SIXTY CYCLERS REPORT JUNE 2025
It has been a good season for the cycling group, especially in autumn when the weather was predictable. There is no denying that fair weather lifts the spirits and contributes greatly to the enjoyment of a ride. No one likes 'toughing it out' when the weather is cold, wet and miserable!
As in the past, days of the week for our rides have varied, not only because of the prevailing climatic conditions, but also to ensure that there will always be some days that suit members, given that most have other commitments on set days of the week.
There are many options for rides either close to the city or further afield (but not too far away). Here in Dunedin, therefore, we are fortunate. Examples over the past season have been harbour rides, Hoopers Inlet, Henley to Waihola, parts ot the Clutha Gold Trail and Otago Central Rail Trail, Waitati and Karitane.
In many cases there have been opportunities for individual riders to extend the chosen route or to shorten it. We try to be flexible and cater for everyone's needs.
An important part of every outing is a visit to a cafe. Everyone enjoys the company of others – so much so that the actual riding seems secondary!
A feature of the group is that everyone gets on really well together. If anyone appears to be having difficulty of any kind, help from others is pretty much guaranteed.
It is planned that we will get together socially, at a cafe, over the months when we are in recess.
