Tramping Group Annual Reort 2024 - 2025
The Dunedin over 60s tramping group at present comprises 56 active members. We head out weekly on Thursdays to various areas of the Peninsula, Flagstaff, the Taieri and Silverpeaks as well as to further afield destinations including Gabriel's gully, the Sutton area, Mitchell's rock near Kaitangata and the Palmerston area. Between ten to twenty five trampers come each week.
We had a very successful week in mid March away basing ourselves in Tuatapere. Twenty two enthusiastic members attended this camp. We did three day tramps..the coastal walk of the Humpridge through bush and along beaches, Riverton to Colac bay through bush, along the headlands and beach. On the last day we offered a stiff climb to the Lake Hauroko lookout or a flatter walk option. The weather was perfect for us over this time.
We are having a mid winter pot luck for members soon.
We have a schedule of tramps planned for the rest of the year. These are listed on the Dunedin over 60s site (under Thursday... Tramping). For members and prospective members details of the tramp destination, grade of tramp (hard, medium or easy), leaders for the day, meeting point, cost for car pooling and coordinators contact names for any queries are listed on the website for anyone to view. There are also photos from various tramps for people to view.
Thanks to Keith Beck for his continued involvement in our group in maintaining the website, communication of weekly tramp details and helping with tramp planning for the year.
